Sarah Vann
Bio

Classical music lessons in small town: check. Wide-world meanderings with guitar on back: check. Big city adventures as music therapist by day, music lover and performer by night: check. Sarah Vann is a musician who finds beauty in the most ordinary of things and her debut album Deafened is a record that reflects all of these experiences. Produced, recorded and mixed at Calgary's Arch Audio by the inimitable Lorrie Matheson (Rae Spoon, Samantha Savage Smith) this is an album that defies categorization, shining a pop lens on a wealth of styles from rootsy folk leanings to Brill Building-era styles (albeit with an indie heart), from modern-day Ella with orchestra to latenight tales avec chill beat. Leading these songs is Vann's voice, a rich, deep and mesmerizing force whose foremost raison d'être is to deliver honest and genuine reflections that are easily relatable.

Vann has been featured on local and national CBC Radio, not to mention on local superstars CJSW and CKUA. She is a regular about town, having been featured at the TransCanada Alberta Music Series, Parkland Summerfest, Lilac Festival, at Fort Calgary, is an Ironwood and Mikey's Juke Joint faithful. She has played alongside Frazey Ford, Lindsay Ell, Kirby Sewell and Jeffery Straker.
